More than Paint on Canvas

"God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him." John 1:3

@ChristianCatLady

Saturday evening my family and I sat outside enjoying the spring weather in Arkansas. Watching the toddler play and engaging in conversation my oldest daughter remarked she felt the need to paint. She gathered her supplies and came outside focused on the Father. Wind blowing around her, and the sun shining upon her fingers touched the canvas, and I sat amazed.

Walking around her easel to take a peek my heart skipped a beat. The result was breathtaking.

Prominently positioned on the canvas stood a cross on a hill with the glory of the Lord shining all around. Holy Spirit within had worked through her painting a picture illuminating the power of the cross. Obedience to release what was welling within sprung forth and encouraged our family compelling us to shout praise to the way, the truth, the life.

More than paint on canvas.

A visual reminder perched on an easel, in an ordinary backyard wove extraordinary moments and unearthed a remembrance of the power of the cross.

Holy week is an opportunity for each of us to sit and remember the incredible gift we received when Jesus gave all to save.

"In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people--an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it. For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again." 1 Corinthians 11:25-26

We live woven together through a new covenant, confirmed by the blood of Jesus and designed before the world began by a compassionate and loving God. Everything you and I are or will be is because of who our Father is, and the sacrifice his son made to cover our sins.

Sunday is on the way, but what about today?

Just as my daughter surrendered to be used encouraging her family, you can also allow the Holy Spirit to work within and through you to help others. You may not paint, or scribe but you have a voice God created to sing his praise.

Psalm 148:5 says "Let every created thing give praise to the LORD, for he issued his command, and they came into being."

Proclaiming the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior lifts him up! Walking in obedience releasing unique expressions paves pathways for the lost to find him as his "super" partners with our "natural"!

Weakness consumed by his strength.

The cross well positioned on canvas served as a reminder. Jesus suffered, died and rose again for you and me. His sacrifice opened the door to intimate communion with God and freedom to live an abundant life.

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord." Psalm 150:6

Everything you are is designed to bring praise to God!

1 Corinthians 3:16 states "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"

How is Holy Spirit nudging you to step out and use your gifts to help others? Every day can be resurrection day if we choose surrender, encouraging others and finding freedom at the foot of the cross! Christ's sacrifice was meant for more than just Sunday!

And art expressed through the power of Holy Spirit is so much more than paint on canvas!
