Pray for Manchester
How do we respond to the evil in the world? What power do we hold to make an impact in the life of those suffering? As I spent time in prayer this morning my heart is overwhelmed with grief for the lives lost in the attack last night in Manchester. Precious families forever changed by this act of violence in a world searching for peace. And as a follower of Christ how do I respond? I surrender my overwhelm and transform it into a weapon through prayer.
The great King David in scripture left us many examples of prayer. He fought numerous battles against the evil and darkness in the world. The struggles fought in prayer are recorded and now serve as guides. Psalm 91 is one of my favorite chapters because David declared what he knew about God. Without hesitation, he spoke truth to the wind and heaven responded.
David verbalized the truth about our mighty, powerful, trustworthy God.
No matter the circumstance or situation we can rest, declare the goodness of God and trust Him to respond. David was not perfect but he faithfully took his needs to God in prayer. He spoke with bold persistance to the God of refuge and strength.
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. (Psalm 91:1-2)
David reminds us that God's perfect love casts out fear.
Regardless of what we see, we know God is fighting for us not against us. When we release these truths in prayer, our Father's supernatural power manifests on earth. Our petitions are powerful when they partner with His perfect will for this world. As His children we walk by faith, not by sight. And our prayers pave the pathway to hope! Evil may manifest but it is not allowed to conquer us in Jesus name (v.9-10)!
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. (Psalm 91:5)
David declares the truth of God, He answers when His children call.
Today as you protect time in prayer call out to the Lord. Partner with David's prayer and believe God will rescue, comfort, and spread His supernatural peace throughout the world. Your prayers are powerful aligned with God's will. No weapon formed against us will prosper. These are truths we can declare about the Lord.
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
We are not powerless. We fight every tangible battle empowered through Holy Spirit in prayer. This is our mightest weapon. When our words on earth, partner with the supernatural intercession of Jesus in heaven, the battle is declared won. Protect time in prayer today for Manchester. Purpose your words aligned with the truth. Passionately believe and faithfully walk out the whispers of the Father.
He hears. He listens. He cannot be defeated! Do not lay down your weapons because of what you see with natural eyes. Lift up your head, partner with heaven and declare the power of God.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. (2 Cor. 10:4)
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. (Romans 8:37)
